Hardware Requirements

In order to efficiently operate the suite of MD Logic software solutions it is critical to implement the hardware technology required to maximize the speed and performance of the MD Logic World Wide EMR software. Below are our minimum specifications and recommendations for hardware required to operate the MD Logic software. These specifications are intended as a guide to help educate healthcare providers interested in implementing MD Logic solutions.

MD Logic offers three levels of hardware services for customers:

1) TURNKEY OPTION
MD Logic can order the hardware, network software and then configure and install all hardware at the clinic site. A Microsoft Certified Network Engineer will travel onsite to ensure all hardware and network software is configured and performing at the recommended level of performance.  

2) HOTSTAGE SERVER OPTION
MD Logic can order the hardware, network software and then configure the server with the Microsoft Network Software making the server MD Logic ready. The server and hardware will be shipped to the customer site where they can have a local IT person install and set up the hardware. This will ensure all hardware and network software is configured and performing at the recommended level of performance. All servers configured and shipped to a customer site are configured by a Microsoft Certified Network Engineer.

3) ORDER AND SHIP OPTION
MD Logic can order both the hardware and network software and have everything shipped to your clinic where your local IT person would be responsible for setting up and installing the hardware and software in the clinic. Your local IT person would be responsible for configuring and installing the Microsoft Network Software and getting the server MD Logic ready.

For customers that choose to order and configure their own hardware and software the following hardware and network software is required to run the MD Logic World Wide EMR.

SERVER SPECS

  • Minimum     4GB RAM
  • Minimum  500GB HD Free Space (1 TB of Free Space Recommended)
  • Minimum    50GB HD Free for OS Partition

MICROSOFT SERVER SOFTWARE

  • Microsoft Server 2003R2 and 2008R2 (2008 is Recommended)
  • Download all service packs and updates
  • Microsoft SQL 2005 / 2008 (2008 is Recommended)
  • Download all service packs and updates
  • Microsoft Terminal Services 2003 / 2008 (2008 is Recommended)
  • Download all service packs and updates
  • MD Logic Supports Citrix as an Option to Terminal Services
  • Microsoft Word XP / 2003 / 2007 on the Terminal Server
  • A volume license is required for loading MS Word 2007

PRINTER SPECS

  • Network Printers are recommended
  • For local printing, the print drivers must be loaded on the local PC and terminal server

SCANNER SPECS

  • MD Logic recommends Fujitsu Scanners
  • Scanner workstation must have 2GB Ram and USB 2.0 Ports
  • Scanner workstation must have Windows XP / Vista or Windows 7 Operating System
  • Please test scanner to make sure it is generating a PDF document

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Fax line will need to be connected to modem on server for customer faxing
  • Customer must DSL, Cable Modem or T1 line Internet Connection
  • Static IP address is HIGHLY recommended
  • All remote / satellite locations must have high-speed Internet Connection
  • Business class router is required at all locations
  • Site VPN is required for all satellite office that plan on scanning documents
