Fed Government Stimulus News
Economic Stimulus Plan
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)
What we Know
Healthcare providers across the United States have all heard about the Federal Governments Stimulus Plan designed to reward healthcare providers that implement Electronic Medical Records. The key to qualifying for the stimulus dollars will be in having the healthcare provider meet the "meaningful use" requirements. As of (March 1, 2010) the Federal Government has still not issued the “final” guidelines for the "meaningful use" requirements.
The one thing we do know is that healthcare providers are going to be forced to capture more medical data as they see patients each day. If a physician does not have a very fast solution for capturing the increased amount of medical data during patient visits then they will be forced to make the following decision:
1. Stay late each evening for an hour or two catching up on patient charting
2. Reduce the number of patients seen each day resulting in a loss of revenue
We can all agree that neither one of these options is a good option for healthcare providers.
EMR – There is a difference
Providers that have invested in MD Logic understand the importance of choosing an input device that will allow the clinic to quickly capture any new data required by the “meaningful use” requirements. Unfortunately the EMR market is flooded with EMR vendors that have developed slow cumbersome pick-list mouse driven system that will not save time. These physicians will be forced to adopt a faster input device like MD Logic to keep pace with collecting the patient data.
As doctors more forward in compliance with gathering more clinical data it will become essential to use the fastest input device available in healthcare. This is where MD Logic stands alone as the leader in allowing healthcare providers to document care “real-time” in the examination room.
Meeting the "meaningful use" Requirements
Once the Federal Government releases the final specifications on the "meaningful use" requirements, all EMR companies be provided the blue-print to build the needed software specifications to comply with the "meaningful use" requirements.
MD Logic is committed to moving forward with software development to comply with these new requirements. The MD Logic advantage will be in knowing that we have the only software designed to quickly capture clinical patient data during the patient visit.
What is in it for the Physicians?
As expected, the initial release of the proposed rules on “meaningful use” has created quite a lot of conversation in the medical community. Physicians that accept the proposed $44,000 that will be paid over a four year period of time through Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements.
However these physicians will be required to collect more clinical data for the Federal Government as a reward for these dollars. The table below outlines the Stimulus Reimbursement for healthcare provides:
